Seller Agreement
Version: 1.2 Date: 2026-05-22
This is an agreement between you (the seller) and Yard Sale Walk (the platform). By signing up to sell, you're agreeing to what's below.
What you're signing up to do
You're holding a yard sale at your own home on the same day as other neighbours, as part of a coordinated walking event. Your address will appear on a public map so shoppers can find you.
The basics
- Sell on your own private property. Front yard, driveway, garage, porch. Selling on sidewalks, streets, or other public space is generally against municipal bylaws, please keep it to your property.
- No food or drinks. Selling food at events typically requires a separate health permit.
- Used personal items only. No new merchandise, no reselling, no commercial goods.
- You have permission to use your space. If you rent, your landlord knows. If you're in a building with shared common areas, please give your building a heads up.
What you get for your signup
Your signup fee covers the marketing, logistics, and infrastructure that brings shoppers to your sale. Specifically:
- Your sale on the online map, where shoppers find every participating yard in one place
- A printed map posted at neighbourhood spots in the days leading up to the event, so walk-by visitors know where to go
- Promotion across the event's marketing channels, including the website, social media, posters, flyers, and (where available) local press
- A personal printable map emailed to you a few days before the event, listing every yard so you can do your own browsing
- Event-day support via the website, in case anything comes up
The result is that you don't have to advertise your own sale, drive your own traffic, or worry whether anyone will show up. The walk does that work.
Where your fee goes, and what you keep
Your signup fee is split into a few pieces. If your event's organizer has chosen a charity, the chosen percentage of your fee goes to that charity. (You'll see the exact split before you pay.) The rest covers payment processing, a platform fee for Yard Sale Walk, and the organizer's costs for running the event.
Beyond the signup fee, you keep 100% of what you make selling your items. We don't take any commission from your sales. The money you make is yours.
Refunds
Signup fees aren't refundable. The exception: if Yard Sale Walk cancels the event entirely, you get a full refund automatically.
Your information
Your address appears publicly on the event map; your name and email do not. We don't sell your information or use it for outside marketing. We remove your address from the public map within 30 days of the event. Full privacy details are in our Privacy Policy.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Yard Sale Walk isn't liable for what happens during your sale. This includes injuries on your property, damage to property, theft, items not performing as expected, disputes with shoppers or neighbours, tax consequences of your sales, or website issues. You're responsible for keeping your space safe, describing your items honestly, and following any applicable laws and bylaws.
You release Yard Sale Walk and its operators from any claims arising from your participation.
Our right to remove you
We can remove you from this or future events (without refund) if you break the basics above, misrepresent your address or items, behave abusively, or repeatedly no-show.
Governing law
This agreement is governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, where Yard Sale Walk operates. Disputes are resolved in British Columbia courts.
Changes
We may update this agreement over time. Future changes apply to future signups; the version you accept governs the event you sign up for.
