What is a Yard Sale Walk?

1
An organiser draws a boundary
Someone in the neighbourhood picks a date, draws the area on a map, and sets a small registration fee.

2
Sellers register their sales
Anyone inside the boundary signs up their yard sale, pays the fee, and lists what they're selling.

3
Shoppers walk the route
On event day, a shared map shows every participating home. Browse yard to yard for a few hours.
Yards confirmed in the neighbourhood.
On Stephens St and West 6th Ave.
Coming as a visitor?
- You don't need to register.
Just show up. Browsing the walk is free.
- The map publishes a few days before.
Every signed-up yard appears by May 27, with last-minute additions on the live map.
- Bring cash and a tote bag.
Most sellers prefer cash. A tote bag and a friend never hurt.
Thinking about setting up a sale?
What does it cost? What do I get?
$15 per yard. You're listed on the public map, included on the printed map distributed to every household in the area, and you keep every dollar your sale earns. Buyers pay you in cash, on the day.
What if I live in a condo or strata?
You can take part if you have written approval from your strata council to use any common space (lobby, courtyard, parkade, garden). Without that approval you can't participate.
What if it rains?
The walk goes ahead, rain or shine. Bring a tarp or move things into your garage if the weather looks bad.
What if I only have a few things to sell?
A single folding table with a dozen items is a real yard sale. Shoppers love unexpected finds at smaller setups.
Do I need a permit?
Not in Vancouver, as long as the sale stays on your own private property (front yard, driveway, garage, back lane). No selling on the sidewalk or street.
When is the deadline?
Sign up by May 27 to appear on the printed map.
